Coincidence is the word we use when we can’t see the levers and pulleys. Emma Bull
I had a great coincidence happen twice while on my trip in Arizona to enjoy a cancer retreat with Escape, a Program of Bag It which takes place at the Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa. Two years ago I was lucky enough to partake in the parent retreat called Life Beyond Cancer.
I believe it helped make me well. It was a beautiful, enlightening experience.
As we arrived in Tucson of course we needed to stop at Walmart. While there, I ran into Wyatt Webb, the equine instructor from whom I’d taken one of the most memorable sessions two years ago. It took Jim’s prodding for me to go up and introduce myself. He was kind enough to act interested that I’d be back there over the week-end. Seeing him brought all the excitement of this retreat out of hiding. I couldn’t wait.
Then we went to Office Max because I had to make copies of a few things for my presentation. As I watched the girl helping me go to the computer and ask the man on it to move over for a minute, I recognized the picture on the screen as another instructor at Miraval. I blurted out, “Is that the man from Miraval?”
What I didn’t realize until he turned around was that not only was he on the screen but he was the man working on that computer. He very kindly replied, shook my hand and introduced himself as Tony Redhouse. He then invited us to come to a concert he was giving that night. We jumped at the chance and before leaving he called to make reservations for us.
Again, I left with such excitement about the evening ahead. But more than that I was thrilled at the capacity of the universe to intervene connecting me with this man. I was hoping to go to one of his sessions while at Miraval but as it turned out, I couldn’t. So instead of not having any opportunity to learn from him, this coincidence arrived as a gift. I have always heard that if you’re open wonderful things happen. I can only believe that by taking the opportunity to recognize and speak with Mr. Webb this opened the doors of my enthusiasm to allow for the next event.
