Martha, It's great to hear from you. I too keep track of you through facebook. I will look into both of these titles. I really like the sound of reading the bible chronologically. Once I do that, I'm sure I'll have to write about it too!

Hi, Missy! I just found your website (a Facebook clue) and wanted to say hi, and see what you were up to, thirty years later. It's been a while, hasn't it?! I think you know that I now live in Texas, which is part of the bible belt. EVERYONE here seems to be in a bible study group. Like you, I'd never read it either. After about seven years, one of our neighbors organized a group and I decided to attend because most of them didn't know any more than I did. And because we always drank a little wine after the leader (who was quite religious) left the group, and I didn't want to be left out of any good gossip!

Anyway, I'd like to suggest that you get a copy of "The One Year Chronilogical Bible" - NLT version. It's great, because it rearanges the bible in the order that events happened, so that it makes chronilogical sense. It groups all of the commentary about an event together, which is also helpful. And the NLT version means that it's written in modern english. Another book that I have that is most helpful is "The Compact Bible Dictionary". It's great for quick lookups of people, events, terminology, etc. I'm pretty sure that they're both available in paperback.

I'm sure my mother is rolling around in heaven, saying what? She's reading the bible? I'm sure she's having a good laugh...

Let me know if you try them, and what you think. Much love,

Good point. I did only comment on the two who have been around awhile. I did see Antje Duvekot. If I remember correctly she played before Cheryl Wheeler. I enjoyed her music as well. I guess this means I'll have to go to the event again and pay better attention.

I was hoping to find a comment about Antje Duvekot who performed at Moab. Hope you did not miss her concert!!! Probably you did or you would have mentioned her.

Funny you said you were there to catch up on a new generation of folk singers and then you only commented on two (Michael and Cheryl who are over 60!

Beautiful way to vision someone's transition. This made me smile and feel like dancing here...so that when I get "there" I'll have an idea of how to move. Thank you, Missy, for always sharing your heart with us.
